General Dentistry in Maryborough

Our priority is helping you keep your oral health in optimal condition. Twice-yearly visits for cleanings and check-ups are a crucial part of that, but we’re also here to guide you through dental emergencies, problems like teeth grinding and TMJ, root canal therapy, and even the creation of sports mouthguards.

Cleanings and Check-ups

During your cleanings and check-ups, we’ll take X-rays to look for changes and problems. After thoroughly cleaning your teeth, you’ll receive a fluoride treatment, if necessary, and we’ll make any recommendations for further treatments. You’ll also be screened for infections, tooth decay, oral cancer and more.

Grinding/Bruxism

Chronic grinding and gritting your teeth is a condition also known as bruxism. It can be caused by stress and often occurs while you’re sleeping. While grinding teeth is common, the constant tension and grinding can lead to more damage when left untreated.

We may recommend a treatment or combination of therapies to address the bruxism.

TMJ/TMD

Temporomandibular joint disorder (TMJD, or “TMJ” for short) is a condition that involves the function of your primary jaw joint. Symptoms often include popping, clicking or locking of the jaw, headaches, muscle pain, and abnormal tooth wear.

We will assess the function of your TMJ during your exam to determine whether or not it is functioning properly. Several TMJ disorders can be addressed through non-surgical methods, such as bite splint therapy or orthodontics.

Emergency Dentistry

Common dental emergencies we see often at Pullen Dental include knocked-out or broken teeth, a gum injury or laceration, a chipped or cracked tooth, or a sudden abscess or infection.

We have special hours set aside for dental emergencies, and we’re happy to help you through those moments. Contact us for guidance on what your next steps should be.

Root Canal Therapy

Root canals remove infected tissue from the tooth’s roots beneath the gums. This is done to save the part of the tooth above the gums and minimise the risk of further damage.

It can also prevent tooth loss, which requires more extensive and expensive treatment.

Sports Mouthguards

Mouthguards protect your teeth from being cracked, knocked out, and chipped. They can also help prevent cuts and lacerations as well as jaw injuries.

We’re proud to offer custom-fit mouthguards to help keep your smile safe during activities.
